Michael Nyman
thumb|Michael Nyman. Michael Laurence Nyman (s. 23. maaliskuuta 1944 Lontoo) on brittiläinen säveltäjä, pianisti ja libretisti. Hän on tunnettu minimalistina, ja hän juuri käytti tätä nimitystä musiikissa ensimmäisenä.
Nyman syntyi työväenluokkaiseen juutalaisperheeseen Lontoon East Endissä. Hän opiskeli Royal Academy of Musicissa ja King’s College Londonissa. Hän saavutti varhaisella urallaan menestystä myös musiikkiarvostelijana.
Nyman on säveltänyt runsaasti elokuvamusiikkia tunnetuimpina esimerkkeinä ''Piano'' (1993) sekä monet Peter Greenawayn ohjaamat elokuvat. Lisäksi hän on säveltänyt muun muassa kamarimusiikkia ja oopperaa. Hän on johtanut vuodesta 1981 omaa Michael Nyman Bandiaan. Wikipedian tuottama
